Rob has lived and breathed Engineering, being trained initially as a Fitter and Turner under the highly reputable Apprentice Training School at Rex Consolidated in the 1980’s. He then travelled and worked in various specialist companies overseas before returning to NZ and took up an opportunity with two other Friends and Fellow Tradesman from Rex Consolidated to buy a long-standing Engineering company Mt Wellington Engineering (MWE). This company had been trading in Auckland for almost 50 years and Rob soon made this his place.

After building the company up, the three partners moved onto develop new products and machines under new businesses, but Rob then returned to MWE in the early 1990’s to continue to run the workshop. In 2020 he had the opportunity with one of the old business partners to buy the business back and is now driving this classic old school engineering business forward once again.
